“Trying to master the medium, express beauty while keeping to the confines of a likeness is enough for me to be getting on with, thanks. I’ll leave expressionism and abstraction to those more well versed in the creative arts, shall we say.”
Dai Kayll is a Pembrokeshire based artist that is drawn to the classical traditions of painting and sculpting. Having done a foundation course in art at Carmarthen College and sketching on his lunch breaks as a hospital porter, Dai had found his passion for art, especially portrait and eventually landscape after having moved to France. He prefers oil paints over acrylics because of the vibrant colours and textures it produces. He takes inspiration from artists such as Alfred Munnings, Ken Howard, Caravaggio, and many others.
